Income softened in January, driven by a sharp dive in both dividend and proprietors’ income. The US job market doesn’t get much better than this; all sorts of people who have previously had trouble landing a job are now finding work. Here’s a look at who’s getting ahead, who could be left behind and how long the boom can last. Inflation fell short of the FED 2% target in 2018 for a seventh consecutive year, though a closely watched measure of underlying price pressures gained traction in December. Growth slowed at U.S. manufacturing firms in February, a sign that the slowing global economy and uncertainty over trade could have clouded the outlook for factories.
