The US is considering a measure that would require colleges and universities to take a financial stake in their students’ ability to repay government loans. Jerome Powell said he was supportive of regulators’ continuing efforts to improve the way they implement a 1977 law that requires federally insured banks to promote lending to borrowers in low and moderate income areas. Trump acknowledged concerns in Beijing about the possibility of him walking away from a trade deal, offering to push back a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping until a final deal is reached.
